Oh nooooo’s

You know what sucks?

Realizing that towards the END of your stop-motion, you’ve been capturing at low res the WHOLE time. :/

WELLLL, now I know.

______

UPDATE: I’m blind.

Apparently there’s a separate folder from each scene that says “frame_hd”

All is swell, thank you :D

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

For your patience…here’s a mini clip of a “pretty shot.” I keep talking about my stop motion and you’re probably wondering what it looks like. I can put in a mini clip of the characters in it some other time…maybe ;D

Hey! Guess who got to put their art on a bookmark?! :D It pays to be a tutor!
If anyone wants one, just ask, haha.

Didn’t Lose it All!!!

Recently, I lost 3 hours of stop motion animation work. But you know what I didn’t lose?

MY OPTIMISM.

Go get it! Go!

OMG, guess what Danny just showed me! - Syntendo. You can make 8-bit music with it. Hmmm, sounds like a plan!
Oh, and I’m getting animation done. 9 seconds down. However many more to go…

SENIOR (VERGE OF TEARS BY EARLY STRESS) RANT. RANT!!!

Friday’s midterm critique made me realize a bit about my future and the now. Now as in the in-between from where I was and where I want to be according to my art.

One of my teachers (who’s never seen my thesis), made me question the intent of my  film. What’s the theme? Why do you want to make this?

The theme is uuummm….compassion. I felt lame for saying that.

I want to make this because, ummmm…actually. Actually, I just wanted to sew some puppets and put them in a fun environment.

Then I hated my storyline. It’s simple and easy. It’s not thought-provoking at all. It’s not like the stories I write or the style I want to portray. BUT, then I thought about another reason why I want to make this film.

  • It’s a learning experience. You want to make this film as practice for making a film. Planning, producing, FINISHING a film - while in school, taking other studio classes.
  • You are a student. The things you make now may not be exactly the things you want to make. It may just be for the sake of the assignment.
  • When you graduate, hopefully you’ve learned enough about the process to go about making a new film that’s more like the themes you enjoy.
  • You already STARTED something. FINISH IT!!!

I’ve bonded with my characters already. They’re like the first child. You learn what to do and what not to do with them, so you can raise your next child better. «< Is that bad parenting?

Caps and Cliff are my children. I love them. They deserve as much attention as any of my other projects.

ALSO - I’m pretty damn excited about the stop motion I’m helping Ryan with. The theme is pretty intense and I can’t wait to help visually represent the idea to the best of our abilities.

On a last note - to those who get those desires of abandoning a project because of one excuse or some silly realization, don’t. (DUH). Everything you do is a part of everything you do thereafter. If you don’t finish something, it’ll just hinder the later things. (I’m also talking to myself when I type this).

GET IT DONE. (Also talking to myself)

Good News and Good-er News!

Well, first of all, this term is seriously stressful - both emotionally, physically, and mentally. I need a break in the mountains by myself sooooon.

BUT!!! Important things come first, like projects. The thing I was most worried about is my Stop Motion thesis and getting proper camera/shooting equipment for it. So with worries aside, I got permission to obtain a workstation!!! The workstation has a licensed version of Stop Motion Pro on it :D

Now I need to find a locking cabinet to keep it in safely. Or make one..that’s a second resort.

OH.

THE OTHER GOOD NEWS.

I’m doing a SECOND stop motion project with my buddy, Ryan Kehoe. He did most of the planning and all that important stuff. Really important stuff. Just yesterday, we finished one and a half tables for the set. I’m too lazy to upload photos…and it’s just photos of tables anyways, not exciting, except to us.

So just follow the link to his site: RyanKehoe.tumblr.com

Follow us and we will keep you updated!

SHOT TEST!!!

I made the screen pink, because forests are green, so…you know.

Then tested it out in After Effects. The background is just a junk photo from the Google. (Real background is going to be modeled in Maya). Keying is always tricky, but this works for now. The set needs a bit more fleshing out, but I plan on finishing it by Friday.

There’s also other good STOP MOTION news. I will mention it later!!!

My hands smell like pine-sap.
